So this week, winter came in full force out of nowhere. Low 30s, even
hitting low 20s. It straight up snowed saturday night. Then, this odd
phenomenon happened. Its called "freezing rain" and basically defies
the laws of physics as I know it. So, according to elementary school
textbooks, water freezes at 32 degrees right? Well when rain gets that
cold, we get hail/snow right? Generally, that happens any place I've
been too. But no, not Oregon. In Oregon, it literally always rains,
even if its 20 something degrees out, it's still wet rain. So this
freezing rain idea thing straight up falls from the sky, liquid form
right? Not snow. Then as it hits you or anything else, it freezes on
the spot, literally instantly. What the heck? It straight up encased
everything in ice. Our car had a nice coating of frozen H2O, and so
did everything else, including the roads. The roads were covered in
ice, it was bad. Thankfully, our lessons and stuff werent very far, so
we didn't have to drive to far, but it was sketchy at some points!
This week has been a bit better, we picked up two new solid
investigators, one is a senior named Jasmine at the local high school
and the other is a husband of an active member who wants to learn more
about the church! We've only met them once so far, but they both seem
pretty solid so there's hope! For New Years we had to be in after
dinner, so we chilled with some members till about 7 then headed home.
The next day we watched a movie called Ben Hur which was like 4 hours
long but it was pretty good!
This week is the last week before transfers, dunno where I'm going
yet, won't know until Friday or Saturday but i'll probably head out most
likely, I've been in Veneta for almost 6 months which is about the cut
off for any single area so I'm pretty sure I'll move, but I may not. Not
sure how I feel about leaving if I do, I really enjoy Veneta a ton and
really love the people here and the area and I'll miss this place
immensely.
Anyways, that sums up my week pretty much!
Here, have a snow pic of the church on Sunday
