Well this week I was bad at keeping daily logs on my iPad, due to me being stupid tired from this week but I'll hit the highlights!
Monday we chilled with our district a bit, then when to Howard field on campus where the ducks train. They got some turf field, so we split up and played soccer and football for a while. It was good to get back in the goal, the elders and other players were impressed with my keeping skills. Tuesday through Thursday was pretty normal, nothing crazy went down. Though Monday we bought some chicken wire and I made a couple of crawdad traps for the river next to us. So wednesday night we went and dropped them in the river next to a members house so they wouldn't get stolen or anything. Anyways we head back thursday night after our day was done to done pick the traps up. We got our flashlights and as were looking for them, a light comes out of the members home. Now this family is really cool, super fun and we know them really well. He comes out about half a football field away yelling "hey who are you!?" Noticing its our friends, Adams yells back in a bad Asian accent " it is us your friends, we catch food for dinner". Well, I realize that he has no idea its us, and that accent apparently threw him way off and he starts yelling for us to get off his property. Then we hear the ever famous *schk- schk* of a handgun loading a round into it's chamber. "GET OFF MY PROPERTY OR I'LL SHOOT" at this point we've pooped ourselves twice over and our nerves are in orbit. I yell back, "BROTHER STOREY ITS US THE MISSIONARIES DONT SHOOT"! He goes silent and then yells back "YOU JACK*SSES, YOU HAD ME GOING AND I JUST ABOUT SHOT TWO MESSENGERS OF THE LORD" so we run over and he was laughing and showing us his .44 magnum with hollow point rounds that he about pelted us with. He played it off really cool with us, and just said were good to mess around here, just let him know by phone before hand. He then invited us in for a snack. They really are great people, the kids were laughing at the story as he called his wife to tell her about how he about blasted two missionaries. We were beyond apologetic and grateful for their kindness to us. And to top it all off, we didn't catch a single crawdad. I love it here hahahahaha! Conference was really good, we had two investigators come to the church and watch it with us, one being our buddy Johnny! He only stayed for a little bit, but heard Jeffery R Holland's talk on mothers on Saturday. His relationship with his mom is less than stellar and very limited. I was worried about him during the talk because it talked about the love of mothers, where he never had that. After words I asked him about it, and he said he loved it, and said even tho his mom wasn't the greatest, he's grateful she allowed him in this earth, and will always love her. Man, kids a true saint. When we dropped him off he brought us his name tag from the military school, and said he has a white shirt like ours, and wants to go out with us to do missionary work with us. That doesn't happen. An investigator, at least in my knowledge, has never wanted to go out and do missionary work with any elders... Thats HUGE. It goes to show his testimony is so strong with the few lessons he knows that he wants to share it with other people already. Freaking amazing dude. Wow. Our girl Uniquee is progressing really well, and we had a stellar lesson with her the other night. She told us that she is starting to feel the presence of God and starting to believe in him. She went from atheist/reincarnation to belief in our Heavenly Father and reading a little from the Book of Mormon. We feel she is really special for some reason, but she will be a difficult person to teach due to some lifestyle choices, but no matter! We are hopeful because she is awesome!!! But over all, the week was good, got new investigators and were looking forward to teaching them!! |
