So this week was transfer week, marking 14 weeks so far. It was my comp, Elder Myer's, last week in the mission. So there was a lot of meetings mixed in holiday festivities, so we kept pretty busy!
Tuesday the leaving missionaries did a temple trip, so I was put with a different zone for the day. I spent the day with the zone leader in Santa Clara and the Elder there was super chill, so I got to play zone leader for a day which was kinda cool I guess!
Wednesday we did some classic Oregon service, which holds three things. A fire pit, a fat machete and a yard full of blackberry bushes. Blackberries, as delicious as they are, are a huge problem and pain in the butt. They are everywhere and spread like crazy and have nasty thorns. So we hacked away and burned enough blackberries to pile up higher than a house and set that plant a blaze. there was much rejoicing.
On Thursday morning, we got a tri-zone turkey bowl game which was sweet, we had a good show up. It was freezing cold, frick man its been highs of 40 but hovers usually around 30-35 and dips to 20ish at night. Yeah, I'm from Arizona and I don't "deal" with cold weather but cold weather just makes me mad man haha. I don't think I've walked out of the door without yelling some kind of reformed profanity about the cold weather as my comp laughs because he's going home to 70 degree weather in Texas. Such is life.
For actual thanksgiving dinner, we went to a family who had all their family over so there was a good number of people and lots of good food!
Friday was hectic. Combine black Friday, with hungover Oregonians, and the biggest football game to play in the state into one day. University of Oregon Ducks vs. Oregon State Beavers. Yikes, traffic was bad going into town for district meeting haha!
Saturday we got transfer calls, so I'm staying in Veneta again and getting Elder Terrell, who is in our zone and a pretty cool kid. He's been out a year-ish and is from Lehi, Utah. All american football kid, huge and just generally a lot bigger than me hahaha! But he seems a pretty chill guy so we will see how it goes!
Hopefully ya'll had a good Thanksgiving with family and stuff while I died here in the cold!
Love,
Elder schick
